What is mind?
Q: What is mind?
Illusion.
Any concept of mind present anywhere is only cultivated
by the veiled or the ignorant until the simple Truth is revealed.
Take for example someone telling others, "that the answer is not found in the mind,
consciousness expresses through the mind or the mind is trying to grasp this or do that",
that is only wrong knowledge cultivated by the ignorant as false wisdom. It is not true at all.
That is only feeding crap or illusion to the ignorant Seekers for self-gratification or a fee.
A mental trap, so to speak. To subtly perpetuate through ignorance a false notion
of duality by cultivating wrong knowledge, therefore Seekers will
falsely believe that they are bound to the imaginary.
If one is feed crap long enough, they will eventually believe it.
Looking for help, they will turn to someone pretending
to be holy, when in fact they are already free.
Show me your chains!
Like a rope falsely believed to be a snake. Mind is only a false assumption.
So my advice to you is to 'beware' of any self-appointed spiritual Guru or Teacher,
that talk about any 'mind' present, for they are only talking about the false or illusion,
like if it was Reality. Can you show me your mind? Have a look and see, if you can find it.
There is no mind present apart from consciousness.
Consciousness is all there is present with oneself as oneself.
Therefore consciousness is itself the thinker and the thought.
There is no other thinker present apart from consciousness itself.
Consciousness is the only presence. The only Reality.
No mind ever existed.
Could someone foolishly call the 'mind', just changing or transient 'thoughts' only?
Of course not! That is rubbish! Consciousness as the true cognitive presence
is what people mistakenly call the 'mind', nothing else.
Wrong acquired dualistic knowledge and therefore false identification due to ignorance.
The only trouble is to label one's true nature aka consciousness 'mind'. That is the mistake.
When some asks you, what good and bad thoughts were going through your 'mind' that day?
Are we talking about the subject present or the changing thoughts, as the illusory concept of 'mind'.
Awareness present of course is referred to as 'mind' itself in that case. The thoughts themselves
are not what is referred erroneously as 'mind', they were just the changing content of that day.
Realize that no thought have ever gone through your 'mind'.
Because you do not have one. You only believe that you do.
Just like ego, the false notion of 'mind' is just a mistake.
Awareness is the only subject or the only witness.
How else would someone know what was going through?
Awareness is iself the activity of knowing or cognizing what ever is.
The Reality is that there is no duality. Being oneself is consciousness.
There never was a 'mind' present to go beyond. Everyone is already whole.
Consciousness alone is ever present as the subject, witness or knower of all thoughts.
All thoughts are just appearing on consciousness. The content that is cognized.
Some are paid attention to and some are not, they just come and they just go.
True consciousness is the witnessing presence or that which is aware of any thoughts.
Present awareness. Who is present and aware of thoughts? I am aware of them.
Consciousness is that I am-ness you know so well already as yourself.
Consciousness present is the true cognitive presence itself.
Some erroneously label consciousness and call it 'mind'.
There is nothing other than consciousness ever present as oneself.
That is the bottom line. No duality. The I present in I am
represent that presence of consciousness itself.
Awareness of being is always primary.
Before anyone can say I am, consciousness must be there.
Books and others may talk erroneously about mind this or ego that.
Seemingly dividing consciousness into this or that illusion.
That mistake is only due to ignorance.
To not know one's true nature and therefore oneself.
Upon self-inquiry or self-investigation the false notion of mind disappears.
To know the Reality. Discern between true consciousness which is the real you
and transient consciousness which are the changing thoughts that appear and disappear.
How to do that? Easy, pause thoughts or be still and true consciousness
is self-revealed as your thoughtless Reality. The you that does not come or go anywhere
like thoughts do. They will come, they will go like they are supposed to, but you always remain.
All transient or changing thoughts that appear and disappear on consciousness aka,
what people erroneously call 'mind' are also consciousness in nature of course
and can only be cognized by consciousness itself.
Consciousness is the Reality. There is no other witness or knower present.
Only consciousness is present and nothing else. You are that presence itself.
To be conscious is to abide as consciousness. Also called sentience or awareness.
You know it so well already as your own being. It is what you are naturally.
To be conscious is consciousness itself. To be conscious is to be aware of thoughts.
Thinking! That is just the natural activity of being alive and aware. What else would it be?
There is nothing wrong with thinking, it is a natural activity of existence. Just misunderstood.
Realize that all there is ever present is always consciousness. It is Omni-presence. Nothing else.
Therefore what can be wrong with thinking? When it is just the natural expression of Life itself.
To fight thoughts is to fight Life, can you win?
Just understand that thoughts come and thoughts go, that is what they do.
Let them do what they do, water must run. Leave them be as they are.
While you are alive and aware of being, thoughts will be there
as the natural activity of consciousness present or Life.
The only mistake is to erroneously label consciousness as something apart, that some call 'mind'
when in fact, there is no mind present now and there never was a mind present at anytime.
It just does not exist, like a mirage. It is only a false notion or illusion.
Investigate what is real. Try to find a mind present anywhere and see.
What mind? There is no mind to be found simply because it never existed at all.
Ignorance alone camouflages this simple fact. These are things one must have a look at,
to remove all camouflage. Nothing else. Then consciousness is revealed as Omni-presence.
Consciousness and you are One, you are that and nothing else.
Same exact presence of existence you know so well as your own being.
There never was a mind to go beyond or to give any credit for doing anything.
Get to know yourself and you know consciousness to be you.
Same exact presence of being, that one falsely identify as
being a separate independent entity is in fact the Reality.
The Self that was never lost.
No one is ever apart from consciousness,
because it is everyone's true nature and Reality.
Nothing to be freshly acquired or to be changed about oneself for consciousness to be.
That is all there is ever present as oneself naturally.
You know it so well as you. Consciousness is another name for you.
Interesting that you stated "consciousness expresses through the mind" as a false pretense because personally I always equaled the word mind WITH consciousness. So yeah, I agree with you. Also interesting is the fact that the word mind doesnt even exist in several languages, German for instance. Germans would translate it with the word "Geist" which actually means spirit or sometimes with "Verstand" which means rather "common sense, brains".
Mind... like all things, material and otherwise... is an appearance.
An appearance, however, which reinforces all other appearances... including itself... by creating meanings and concepts for them.
Like mortar holds up bricks.
The creation of a concept, i.e. "there is no mind", is an act of differentiation ("this, not that").
And differentiation is the chief function of mind.
So can you say there is no mind, when that, in itself, is a differentiation?
Or is it more accurate to say that mind is absent when differentiation ceases?
