It is often said that you must rest in awareness, or the practice of noticing is suggested even if only implied. This itself would create a distinction would it not? a thing which could merge with the awareness if it resided in it long enough. but ask yourself how long is long enough? how much do you have to suffer before your ready to be who you are.If you can see the humor/pain in that you might want to re- think it.Is it not just a subtle belief in seperateness? what is there that could bask in awareness until it becomes it? The fact is this may "work" eventually but only because eventually the belief that there is some thing to do this will lose its power.
So why not skip that whole "process" and find out if there really is anything but awareness. is the totality and each seemingly different aspect of this "moment" anything other than awareness already? is what feels like you any less apparent then what you call the world/other than you. Is there room for a me? if it still feels like there is a me here, isnt that apparent? is there anything ANYTHING which isn't apparent. If so do you believe there is something which is not apparent? whether it be a you or a god.
This is often the subtlest seperation, the belief that there is something beyond appearance. "for me" it was the most tricky belief because it felt like i was abandoning logic. I thought if there is nothing else how did all this get here and what about the atomic level and so on. all the question which astound us from the time we start thinking. But its not abandoning logic in a bad way its just seeing that the atom only exists as an idea or an image in a microscope. just as this computer only exists as a sensual/conceptual appearance. the idea that it has some other "essence" is just another sensual/conceptual appearance. as is the idea that life would make sense if it did have an essence. but the fact is that essence would not be the computer. its like saying a human is a bunch of atoms. a human is a human and a bunch of atoms is a bunch of atoms. appearance is all there is nothing seperate from appearance.

BEING IS SEEING

"The need is for one to be aware that he IS the SELF or perfect Being, and that there is nothing in or of him that can be anything else"

--Lillian de Waters

I love this quote, as it is such a lucid pointer to our Reality as Undimensional, Infinite Essence, as well as a pointer to a valid practise for those times when one doesn't intimately feel and know Truth and illusion feels
more prevalent and 'real'....

The little words "in him" refer to starting one's practise/meditation/prayer with wanting to know God/Spirit/Truth alright first and remind us that Pure, Infinite Awareness is ALREADY what we are, whether we are conscious of this fact or not.

The only advantage to our being conscious of it is that it makes for a much more pleasant 3d experience-dream, so if one is ready to not suffer needlessly anymore, being conscious of Truth is paramount.

(This, of course, is speaking to the witness/observer, that feels at times in between two worlds, has had numerous glimpses that not all is as it seems, yet doesn't feel he/she permanently abides in and as Truth only quite yet.)

Being unconscious of/to One's Real Essence makes one identify with the deceptive belief in a fall from Grace, separation from the Divine, Infinite All...

...one now identifies as a finite entity in time and space, with a beginning and ending, from womb to tomb, rather than uncreated, unborn, unchallenged, eternally present Infinity.

The whole matter isn't even so much of a choice, as only one of these holds true, one can easily compare it to the longstanding belief that the earth is flat, which was then seen to never have been true in the first place, now exploded.

As only our timeless, Infinite Pure Awareness IS at any 'point'/'time'/'place'ever, in times where we don't 'feel' or realize Truth, we are given an opportunity to feel 'Home' every second of our seeming earthly experience here.

There are so many ways, practices, pointers, some as simple as turning on the 'Beatles' song 'Get Back, get back, get back to where you once belonged'...

Others, like the teaching "A Course in Miracles," the "Atma Darshan," American Mystic Joel Goldsmith's "Infinite Way," Peter Dziuban’s beautiful “Consciousness is All,” Katie Davis' gorgeous "Awake Joy"...

Knowing and feeling ourself as Infinite, Pure Awareness, the Spaciousness of Eternity beyond all dimensions, any appearance that pops up within this Consciousness can be compared to the infamous serpent that really only ever was
a rope...

There is no need at all to go back in time, do past life regression, bring up childhood trauma etc (although within the human paradigm these all certainly are valid and time-proven techniques that have helped numerous people)...

Why?

Because whatever is right in front of us, appearing on and in the screen of our Infinite Consciousness, is representative of an unconscious, repressed belief we have held for eons once we bought into the idea of separation, the thread that runs throughout the entire hologram of humanity.

NOW is always a fresh choice, opportunity, to release that, by simply seeing it aright, noticing that it pops up within our unlimited Consciousness just like movie images on the unmoving TV screen.

No matter what those images represent to our individual or collective unconscious, in reality, they never are separated from or in quality and essence anything other than the screen itself.

Similarly, whatever we seemingly witness projected 'outside' our 'self', is indicative of a hidden belief that really can never be outside our One Consciousness, and since it resides there and Omnipresence and Omnipotence mean
exactly THAT, these moving images we watch in shock and horror represent our own fears of mortality, separation, lack, you name it.

By embracing them and 'allowing' them back into our heart, or seeing them aright as residing ALREADY within the One Consciousness we are, they lose their power to deceive, their impact to negatively effect us and free us bit by bit.

And not only that, every time we do this 'forgiveness practise' as 'A Course in Miracles' calls it, or recalling the projected parts of our Self back, seeing them aright, also shines more of the Light we are into the hologram of the human 3d dream and thereby releases all that are still identified finitely bit by bit.

The little words "of him" in the quote above point to that part of the image in the 3d hologram we witness as our own human identity.

To see ourselves as no less than Infinity itself can be difficult, to say the least, as the primary body/mind-identity seems so deceptively real, has its aches and pains, physically or psychologically-we witness deaths and births and oftentimes get stuck when it comes to the image we call our 'self.'

Yet stopping here right before the homestretch would be paralyzing, looking back like Lot's wife, stagnating...

It is imperative that we deeply realize, feel and know at once that the object we perceive as our own body/mind/personality, individual soul, called by a certain name, with a birth certificate, also only ever appears as a
superimposition in the Eternal Screen of Infinite Luminosity, that its true nature and quality cannot be other then pure, infinite Light, whatever the five senses attest to.

In this manner, our senses that so far attested to an objective reality 'out there' and separation, will now attest to One, Unchallenged, Pure, Eternally Fresh, Self Sustaining and Self Renewing Substance, indestructible, always present NOW for the first time ever.

The fearful dream of belief in separation fades into the background until it collapses back into its native nothingness, and only THIS, pristine and shining,
remains, real and available, utterly present, never having been other.

And here are dear Katie Davis’ most gracious and helpful comments, received in deep gratitude, in the hope that they may help others as much as they did here:

Hi Maren ~

I waited a bit to see what others might reply.

This is regarding your intelligent post above in this same discussion:

"Being is Seeing"

Your helpful pointers are especially supportive for that "between two worlds" sense.

Also, you wrote:

"...one now identifies as a finite entity in time and space, with a beginning and ending, from womb to tomb, rather than uncreated, unborn, unchallenged, eternally present Infinity."

Wisdom is flowing here with such beauty ... outlines with perfection the precise dilemma.

Also you wrote:

"As only our timeless, Infinite Pure Awareness IS at any 'point'/'time'/'place' ever"

This is a fully 'integrated' truth that is being shared here, Heart Friends.

I guess this is why some say that "enlightenment" is the darned thing!

An analogy, perhaps. If we must travel from Seattle to L.A., we pass through Portland and San Francisco along the way.

Then, we realize that we have always and forever been in L.A.!

Then, through the power of infinite consciousness that we are ALSO every so called point along the way! he he

You wrote:

"Because whatever is right in front of us, appearing on and in the screen of our Infinite Consciousness, is representative of an unconscious, repressed belief we have held"

This is a powerful pointer. When we wake up to the dream of form, we tend to then dismiss the mirror (what is appearing before us). Yet, just as you are sharing, what is appearing before us IS what remains unconscious or repressed within.

If we realized this, we would still find it highly interesting instead of ignoring it or instead of fighting, complaining or trying to change the mirror! :)

You wrote:

"these moving images we watch in shock and horror represent our own fears of mortality, separation, lack, you name it."

Perhaps, something like what do the images of the people in Haiti represent?

We tend to throw money at it, which of course (!) is so beautiful, yet some might feel that the task is then complete.

Is there 'inner' work here?

First there is the recognition of how the mind is labeling the images.

Then, it requires a recognition of what those images are actually pointing toward. They cannot point to any other ...

Here is the work. You wrote:

"By embracing them and 'allowing' them back into our heart, or seeing them aright as residing ALREADY within the One Consciousness we are"

Allowing is the great burning and the power of transforming what has previously been held unconsciously and now is shining in the light of consciousness. That attention is the harmonizing power.

Most never get to this point. The divided mind labels it, followed by resistance and judgment. To allow the 'horror' in, is not possible for the divided mind. This is the way that the 'horror' (forgive the label) perpetuates over and over and over until it is conscious.

The embracing and allowing is how the life situation and the world transform ... as you say 'bit by bit.'

You wrote and shared perfect wisdom here:

"It is imperative that we deeply realize, feel and know at once that the object we perceive as our own body/mind/personality, individual soul, called by a certain name, with a birth certificate, also only ever appears as a superimposition in the Eternal Screen of Infinite Luminosity, that its true nature and quality cannot be other then pure, infinite Light, whatever the five senses attest to."

What you are sharing here IS the end of time, resistance and suffering.

Keep sharing, Beloved Maren ... xxx :)

Thank YOU for sharing your Light so generously, dearest Katie!

I am irresistable

" -But i can feel this subject of the subject-object, hence it is an object.
- ... endless repitition
- ... until abandonment to the absolute subjectivity takes place. "

Exactly although i would say "the feeling of subjectivity Is" rather than i can feel this subject, the "I can feel" is the link which connects the appearances and creates an illusion of a constant "stream" of subject - object so to speak. this is the "experience" we call me. all there is, is this. The idea of a linear stream is an aspect of the totality of what is apparent(effortlessly,observer-less-ly). Any "idea", is an aspect of the totality of what is apparent. apparentness is all- encompassing, all-inclusive. It even includes the feeling/idea of an objective viewer. Its like there is this space which opens up to include everything which is appearing, yet that sense/image/feeling is included as well. A lot of teachers say you are the space which allows everything to be. This can be confusing though because it can create a feeling of objective ownership/identity which is often not included. There is nothing outside of apparentness though and by nothing i dont mean empty black space i mean the complete abscence of any attribute, it can not be imagined in any way by the mind because to imagine it would be to give it attributes. This is very important to understand, the word nothing can only point to the abscence of attrubutes/existence. there is nothing other than what is apparent. This does not mean on an ultimate level there is nothing beyond the scope of human perception, it just means even the idea of something beyond human perception is a "human" perception which is apparent. So there is NO perception which is not apparent. What may be beyond apparentness is a mystery and even the slightest sense of something beyond apparentness is apparent. but thats all just words ha, no real independant truth to Any of it.

Another way to say it:
The other site of the coin of any apparentness is the absolute absence of apparentness.

The absolute absence is the absence of "absence and presence", since both are phenomenal appearance of every-"thing".

Absolute absence means
the absence of the presence
and
the absence of the "absence of presence".

Every apparent thing is nothing but this absolute absence (as a dynamic functioning of it - as awareness).
Absolute absence is not a thing nor a no-thing.

Andi

Regarding the "subtlest

Regarding the "subtlest separation" - did you spoke about the Subjekt-Object?
For me the Subjekt-Object is the Object which plays the main role in the identification process:

-I am seeing an object.
-In seeing the object, there is a feeling to be the subject of this object.
-But this subject is also perceived by ... me!?
-Hence it is an object by itself - the subject-object.
-Seeing the subject-object produces again the feeling to be the subject to this seeing.
-But i can feel this subject of the subject-object, hence it is an object.
- ... endless repitition
- ... until abandonment to the absolute subjectivity takes place.

Absolute subjectivity is for me pure and direct perceiving or pure awareness as a dynamic functioning. Nobody in it. No distinction between object and subject.

Greetings
Andi

Appearances

It sounds like you are really getting this stuff. All that appears in consciousness, objects, thoughts, feelings, people, are in the end just appearances in awareness. Even the idea of separateness itself is just another idea appearing in conscious awareness.

A sleeping dream is a fully fleshed-out world of experiences and objects and people appearing to your awareness in the dream. But are the objects and people and events in the dream real or separate things which exist within the dream, or is that entire seeming world and everything in it collectively just the dream itself.

In the same way what is often called "the waking dream" seems to consist of a real manifested world of apparent infinite diversity and depth. And while we entertain the belief that we are separate and independent dream-selves, we continue to experience an external world that is as "real" as we take ourselves to be. Again, it is all just a dream in consciousness appearing as real.

While we still harbor some lingering beliefs in our identification as "this mind" or "this body" or "me," advice such as "rest in awareness" can still find some degree of resonance, and possibly be a helpful pointer toward our ultimate liberation from our last and most stubborn illusion, I.

All is consciousness. All that appears, and all that doesn't.
