Contribute to Maintain NNH History

We have something a little less than 300 historic NNH episodes on Viddler, which is a site like Youtube, and the first place I found that hosts one and two hour videos, then for free.  This May they asked me to pay for a professional account, and said that I would be good for the year.

But now we are running as much as 100 gigabyte over the professional allowance.  This amounts to even $100 a month in overage charges.  NNH is not an income model, so as exciting as these extra viewers are, there is no compensating flow of funds.  I really can't keep this going without your help.

I have all the original files in Chicago, but it would take many months to upload 300 videos to Youtube and rebuild the video links on 300 of our historic pages.  Plus, from Australia I would probably have to pay $100/mo. to get that much speed and bandwidth to upload. Wow.

Still some days to go this 30 day billing period:

An idea

Here's a plan: find 10 people that want to help. They all download one video a day from viddler and then upload it to youtube. Should be done within a month.

Let's be creative

Isn´t uploading the older ones also to youtube an option? Since they´ve dropped the time limit. And thus removing them from viddler.
Or perhaps your point is that in a way viddler ´helped NNH out´ to get started, and that it would be a bit unthankful to now bring those vid´s to youtube.

O.k., I hadn´t read your final sentence yet, haha. Yeah time is a big issue. So basically the choice is between an investment in time or money. I´m now definitely not in a position to donate money, but it would be great if archives are not lost.

Perhaps you can make a choice, like a ´best of.´ So you pick 75 vid´s to upload. Perhaps it´s not necessary to upload all the hours of Jac O´Keeffe for example. But pick 3 or 4 special ones. And do this with ever teacher. But time will remain an issue.

So it seems the viddler ones already are not playable anymore? Or perhaps it´s just my computer.

to pay or not to pay

Hi Richard---I can see the pinch you are in now and am sensing a growing trend to charge $$$ for space on line. It seems that this trend will continue even if you do make some changes now. I think you will be facing a similar situation again. Maybe you can archive older clips and if people want to see them charge a fee? I know you don't want to move in that direction. 100 views a day at $1 per view---you wouldn't have to think about this anymore!

Hi Richard! I think both

Hi Richard!
I think both Arjen`s and Burma`s suggestions are wise, specially Arjen`s which then wouldn`t alter your policy. Niether I am able to donate right now, I hope I can do that later , yet it would really be a great lost to sacrifice the archieves.

I don`t go to the archieves very often, yet it happens, like a few days ago when I watched your inerviews with Marlies Cocheret again.

I hope you are doing fine and thanks for all the videos from where you are.

Much love.
Anna
