Everything just happens - You are not the doer

Hello,

It was 5 years ago when I first heard of Tony Parsons saying that 'everything just happens'. Before that I have been struggling to understand what Buddha meant with 'deeds are done but there is no doer thereof'. Then I read Osho talking about that 'you are not the doer but the watcher'.

Everything made sense in a blink of a eye. If there is no Consius doing something, there is only Being/Source etc. This is it! BUt not understanding it happened later on.

>>This is what 'I' understand: hearing, seeing, smelling, thinking is happening on its own accord. In 97% of time actions seem to happen like brushing teeth to walking.

>>this is what 'I' don't understand: There seems to be something HERE which triggers actions whenever I or IT wants. When I say to myself: I am going to lift my hand up in the air whenever I want in the coming 3 minutes, I actually can do it. Same implies with 'walking slowly or fast' or breahting slowly or fast. I can do that!

How can this be seen by no-one?

Consius

"As I see it, it is all

"As I see it, it is all day-dreaming. There is no reality in ideas."

Incredibly potent words you cite here... by one of my favs, Nisargadatta.

Including all the ideas of doership already expressed here?

Probably so.

In zen, you are invited to wash dishes without the washer.

To be.. the washing of dishes.

And silence.

"There is no reality in ideas.", said Nisargadatta, and yet: Nisargadatta spoke a lot! Didn't he?

The language of silence is misunderstood even more often than words. There are ideas strengthening the believes of the mind and there are ideas revealing the illusoriness of all believes, if it happens that they are understood.

How the Enlightened Being expresses its realization is unique. Some keep silent, some talk. Life determines it so.

There is no reality in ideas and yet - what a miracle! - illusory words point out to their own illusoriness to let the real reveal itself spontaneously, uncontrollably and unpredictably.

Life‘s precision maintaining illusion as real is unimaginable!

Consius: “There seems to be something HERE which triggers actions whenever I or IT wants.“

Response: Man is not aware. Believing he were the doer, speaker and thinker, the precision of Life reflecting the illusion of doership deceives him from time to time even though he has understood it to be illusory in the form of knowledge.

Understanding that the mind, man and the world are illusory and man is not the doer, speaker and thinker in the sense of KNOWLEDGE: TO KNOW IT THROUGH THOUGHTS.

Understanding that the mind, man and the world are illusory and man is not the doer, speaker and thinker in the sense of WISDOM: THE COMPLETE ABSENSE OF THE SENSE OF DOERSHIP.

Consius: “How can this be seen by no-one?“

Response: “Some-one“ could be understood as how he sees the world as real, then - without any HOW - “no-one“ reveals itself spontaneously, seeing the world as illusory. Only the illusory could be understood, not the real.

With increasing awareness about the movements of the apparent body and the mind, the ego sophisticates spontaneously, uncontrollably and unpredictably into the witness.

Consius: “When I say to myself: I am going to lift my hand up in the air whenever I want in the coming 3 minutes, I actually can do it.“

Response: Life makes the mind think „Lift your hand now“ and then (sometimes) makes the hand move. Both are part of the singular movement which is life. The precision in which the thought and the apparent deed happen in illusory time deceives the ego to be the doer. How exactly this delusion happens is explained by Dr. Vijai S Shankar on:

(scroll down to: "Interview and Talk with Dr. Vijai S. Shankar
Life – an Optical and Auditory Illusion of Light and Sound" and click: "Part 2")

Awakening, Enlightenment, Witnessing is a timeless and thoughtless state in which time, actions and thoughts are perceived as utterly illusory. Thoughts are perceived as sounds appearing as words with meanings which do not make the body move. THE SENSE OF DOERSHIP HAS DISAPPEARED TOTALLY!

For further enquiry into the mind (if it happens to you) watch the videos with Dr. Vijai S Shankar on NNH and read the articles (free on the website) or buy the books on www.acadun.com

no contradiction

Excellent point, made in a modest way.

I won't be that modest!

The thinker, doer, baker, witnesser is just a nexus of the figure eight flow. The figure eight flow is how the one is folding on itself in cosmic ways.

Humanity is self-aware of this nexus, which raises the possibility of separation - known as "ego". The nexus is crucial for the flow, but not in separation. It is still the one folding within itself.

When you drive a car, there is processes that "just happen" and you control the car at the same time. No contradiction. You know where you are going, you know when you have to turn, or when you missed your turn, even if you are not in control of the spark plugs and the pistons. The same with everything that nature provides for the thinking soul. [OSHO had himself built a straight perfectly paved strip of road in the middle of Oregon wilderness, so he could drive up and down in one of his Rolls Royces. Now, that is creation! Build your own road, so you can drive the car you love, without anyone interfering. OSHO is probably the greatest thinker/creator this world has seen so far...He created a Zen Garden out of a trashed out Hindu public property in the middle of Pune crazy traffic. Only he could pull that off...

Perception, mind, body, sentiency... We need to understand the instrumental nature of processes versus self-awareness, intention, thinking and account-ability and in the end - CAUSALITY. Who dropped the stone in the pond and for what reason is more important to understand than that the circles around it are just happening.

The Hindu-bias of non-duality throws out the baby with the bathwater. The results are obvious and stupid. Watch how they drive in Mumbai. It obviously just happens! On the other hand, if you seek enlightenment the Hindu-bias provides a quick fix this way. Everything just happens...jada, jada, jada....

A house just happens. There is no intention, no purpose, no architect, no plans, no structural considerations, no owner. It just happens...? What cart load of holy cow dung for thinking!

A cosmos just happens. There is no purpose, plan, idea, structural harmony, integration?

Life just happens? Excuse me, I really have to smile. It is probably life, just happening....

Hi, Thanks for the reply. You

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. You have to like Osho. A true Rebel. I also understand that saying these things as ' everything just happens' can become a belief and thus a resort to do whatever you want. So if you are not the one who is stealing, so is the person who is going to put you in jail also not the doer. And so on. Evertyhing is BEingness is what I am pointing at and in for the apparant me it seems like this sense of doership is very important to understand, so that is what I am doing/ what is being done......

Understanding the sense of doership is paramount!

If an apparent somebody understands that “he is not the doer“ in the form of knowledge and after this understanding Life makes him kill somebody this is also not his deed, but the precision of Life to maintain the illusory world as real in the human mind.

What is meant to happen will happen and no force on earth could prevent it from happening. What is not meant to happen will not happen and no force on earth could make it happen.

This understanding leads to wisdom and trust in life will arise spontaneously, uncontrollably and unpredicably. Man lives his mind and not life. Man believes cause and effect to be real whereas cause and effect are just thoughts in the mind and not an actuality in life.

This is my own realization and it convinces me that the great sages were right:

Quote: I am That, Talks with Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj:

“Q: I am confused by your denial of causality: Does it mean that none is responsible for the world as it is?

M: The idea of responsiblity is in your mind. You think there must be something or somebody solely responsible for all that happens. There is a contradiction between a multipe universe and a single cause. Either one or the other must be false. Or both. As I see it, it is all day-dreaming. There is no reality in ideas. The fact is that without you, neither the universe nor its cause could have come into being.

Q: I cannot make out wether I am the creature or the creator of the universe.

M: “I am“ is an ever-present fact, while “I am created“ is an idea. Neither God nor the universe have come to tell you that they have created you. The mind obsessed by the idea of causality invents creation and then wonders “who is the creator?“ The mind itself is the creator. Even this is not quite true, for the created and its creator are one. The mind and the world are not separate. Do understand that what you think to be the world is your own mind.

Q: Is there a world beyond, or outside the mind?

M: All space and time are in the mind. Where will you locate a supramental world? There are many levels of the mind and each projects its own version, yet all are in the mind and created by the mind.“

Quote: Dr. Vijai S Shankar: “Nothing happens in life. Something happens in the mind as thoughts and not as actuality in life. Life is a spontaneous, uncontrollable and unpredictable singular movement of optical and auditory illusions of light and sound.“

Sorry, I am one of those who is talking to himself and to his own ideas in the hope to make a difference. Non-duality at its very best!

The fine point of dogmatic, and therefore irrelevant discussion is this: "Doership" and "Thinghood". It IS the great mystery. Let us not prematurely and conveniently confuse it with reification and 'ego separation'. The Hindu-bias is jumping to conclusions because it is so hot in India (who wants to act?), and the mangos are falling from the tree behind your house (who needs to act?).

There is a cultural propensity to let things just happen. And the sad fact is this, the majority is slaving away in the dirt on the assumption that life is just happening. I have never seen greater stupidity than that, although - there is that crack, that opening for the few, to achieve enlightenment with this unnecessary suffering, and the hope for millions...

This is the wrong definition of Action/Karma - period. Now we need to adopt this idiocy in the West? In addition to all the other problems we have created unto ourselves by not recognizing our account-ability?

Sure, we can build oil rigs and make money with them....All we need is the Hindu blessing that life is just happening. Hello BP! Life is just happening, don't feel accountable. Hello Washington! Life is just happening, don't worry - life will take care of itself, just keep on drilling!
