About 3 and a half years ago around November 2006 I attended for the first time a satsang with you in Houston.
Today, having listened to the www.acadun.com amazing collection of CD’s reading the books and of course attending satsang when life permits, what a change what a change. The change is not of life, it is the same life but the change is, in understanding life as it is, and this through understanding the functions of the mind. Understanding makes for quality change of living TOGETHER which benefits all who are close within my family.

My family and especially my two boys are beyond fortunate that Life made me be there that moment 3 and a half years ago so words of wisdom could be heard. Dr. Shankar I can attest and my only explanation is that magically the wisdom shared flowing through your words have given my boys a loving mother they so deserve and my husband an understanding and loving wife. The shift from thinking of living to living with them without opinions or judgments, is the preciousness of life as it is, slowly revealing itself.

It becomes clearer and clearer by every listen and every read be it a book or an article written by Dr Shankar that only by understanding the illusory mind as deeply and completely as possible man will find himself more and more relaxed in his daily illusory life. That the mind (ego) the instrument which is firmly believed to be the conductor of daily life is not al the one which conducts life, is once again, in greatest detail clarified in the latest book Evolution of Mind www.evolutionofmind.org The book reveals the deepest understanding available to man, that man did not make the mind but the mind has evolved within man, it is a blow to the ego and rightfully so. Thank you for that.

I am happy to share with humanity the wealth of wisdom in the form of CD's books and articles available at www.acadun.com

Love
Diane Izzedin

In the beginning there was the word...

Dear Dr. Shankar,

Are you saying that someone who is born deaf and mute and has never known sound cannot participate in the "illusion" of life? A deaf mute would still be able to think, thinking is not really light or sound.

Response to Lucy

Response:Dr. Shankar has never said that the deaf and mute cannot participate in the illusion of life. That they can is proof that thought is subtle sound.

I did not mean to imply that he said that, I was asking if that is what he meant. You said "That they can is proof that thought is subtle sound." How is that proof? Doesn't it make more sense that because they can participate in the illusion of life, thought is not merely subtle sound but a ripple or a vibration in Consciousness.

Dear Lucy,

You write : Doesn't it make more sense that because they can participate in the illusion of life, thought is not merely subtle sound but a ripple or a vibration in Consciousness.

Response:A ripple or a vibration is nothing but sound. Consciousness too is a ripple or a vibration, which is sound too. Consciousness is the first sound in awareness which is nothing but silence.

shankar's metaphors

Shankar's use of light and sound can only be metaphors to illustrate the contrast between awareness, which cannot be understood by the mind and thought which is inherenty conceptual. Its wrong therefore to use the word "consciousness" to indicate thought since its a word synonymous with being or awareness.

The evidence from scientific studies of language is that it is innate to the human brain and its the concomitant ego structure which evoved alongside it which has enabled man to survive on the earth.

the probem is that the ego has gotten out of hand and man now needs to evove beyong this ego structure i.e. consciouness in man must evolve or we will become extinct.

Response to : Shankar's methaphors

Awareness is synonymous with light as is sound and mind. Consciousness is not synonynous with awareness. Consciousness is the first illusion of awareness or light. Science too is illusory for science is knowledge and knowledge is sound. Man makes sound which appears as language in the mind. The brain too is a thought in the mind. Evolution has happened to man and will continue to happen, and man has not brought about evolution or sophistication.
