DARE TO THINK INDEPENDENTLY

“I maintain that Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. ... The moment you follow someone you cease to follow Truth.- Jiddu Krishnamurti”

We are mostly thrust with everything from the moment we are born. Our circumstances already decided. Our parentage is not in our hands. Our Nation, Color, Caste, Sex etc are not in our hands. Many of us come into a pre-molded system with little flexibility to exercise our own ideologies for a long time in our life. Only very few people transcend these limitations and venture with an Independent Thinking ability in their Life Time for taking decisions.

There is nothing in this world that doesn't need revisions. I always stand firm in my belief that anything and everything in the world need 'REVISIONS' periodically which include our Thoughts and Mindset. Life teaches us so much. We should be ready to review, revise and amend out thoughts as we learn more. There is nothing in this world which is not subject to revision. Even a car comes out with so many variants and revisions day after day. There is nothing that can not be revised, including Religions, Beliefs , Ideologies etc. Everything needs Revisions as we progress. A blockhead will only never ever revise his ideologies, behavior, actions etc. We should be willing to change our Attitude at every minute and at every learning.

Nothing is sealed once for all. One of the reason I have always disliked few religions is because there is no room for any rethinking or amending their sayings and there is no room for free thinking. Few religions and societies are fully locked. Few religions have always encouraged SEEKING as the Primary objective and encouraged them and I like them.

There is no doubt that we should respect our elders, our culture and our traditions. Still we have to bear in mind that we can't be in a Primitive way of belief system which is detrimental for our evolution. Evolution is all about outgrowing our Ignorance and coming out with a better Mind Set.

Following are my suggestions to our readers w.r.t How and Why to Expand, Develop, Evolve and Progress in our Independent Thinking:

1. ASK WHY

Ask 'Why' to go deeper to the root of any issue/problem. You can answer 'What', but you cannot answer 'Why' for many questions. For example you can answer the question, 'What is an Universe?' but you cannot easily answer the question 'Why a Universe exists?" To answer the question 'Why' require more introspection, analysis and investigation. We can easily answer 'What is Anger?' but can't so easily answer 'Why we get Anger?'. So, ask the question 'Why' when you are in doubt. You may not get the answer immediately. But, your subconscious mind has the ability to assimilate the truths and reveal the answer to your 'Whys' at a later time at least, if not immediately.

2. DEPLOY LOGIC and REASONING

Deploy Logic and Reasoning to the maximum possible extent to decipher the Truth. Let us take the following example: In India our parents would advise us not to stitch cloths in the night time. The reason was that we may hurt ourselves with the needle because of poor light. This was the case in the olden days when lighting was very poor and electricity was not available in every house. Should it be that we should avoid stitching cloths using needles in this century also when brightest lighting is available in our rooms?

3. RESPECT ELDERS, TAKE THEIR ADVICE, BUT THINK INDEPENDENTLY

Respecting elders doesn't mean that you have to blindly obey whatever they say. Just because you respect, there is no need to agree with all their commandments. You may be well educated than them, may have better Experience, Expertise and Exposure in few areas than them. So, you may explain them the reasons why you don't agree with them on such decisions, which they might have said ignorantly.

4. AVOID SUPERSTITIONS

We know that Superstition is the religion of feeble minded persons. No doubt, religions have good moral codes. But, not all Religious codes are perfect. What is left out in most religions are nothing but Rituals and Superstitions. There is no need to blindly follow such religious codes, when they drastically affects the quality of your Independent Thinking.

5. CHECK REPEATABILITY and COHERENCE

Repeatability and coherence should be there for validation in all we believe as truth. Truth should be always consistent. Any system which does not conform to this need not be trusted. For example we need not trust Astrological Predictions, Occultism, Rahukalam, Yamakandam, Horoscope etc as Repeatability and Coherence are missing in them . They are merely ploys to exploit our ignorance and weak mindedness. There is no need to trust something which has NO STANDARDIZATION.

6. BROWSE THE NET, CONSULT EXPERTS, DISCUSS WITH WELL WISHERS

In this Internet Yuga we can always Trust Internet more than Individuals to decipher the Truth. Rigorously scrutinize all your doubts in Internet Forums or discuss with experts and well wishers to arrive at your crucial decisions.

7. READ AND WRITE A LOT, BE FLEXIBLE AND ADAPTABLE, AMEND AND REVISE YOUR THOUGHTS AND BELIEFS

Reading and Writing are the best ways to communicate and better your Inner Self. Everyone communicates with the inner self in a way or other. Your inner self is as vast as this Universe, as perfect as God, as great as Love and as mighty as Truth. Your analyzing and decision making ability become perfect with more and more Reading and Writing. Especially Writing is the best means to better your Independent Thinking. But without Flexibility and Adaptability, Crude and Adamant writing will take you only to abysmal failure only. Be ready to amend and revise your thoughts and beliefs as life teaches you more.

8. ALLOW COOKING TIME

Don't expect magnificent results or answers to all your questions or problems instantaneously. Every sincere attempt to decipher the truth is sooner or later are answered. But you have to allow cooking time for your subconscious mind to work out the problems. Put the questions to your Subconscious Mind and wait for the results to come. You will naturally get all those solutions in due course of time. You may confidently silence your Mind after sowing the seeds in your Mind. Then, your subconscious Mind will workout all that is required to be done. You will see the Light sooner or later.

9. DON'T BE HASTY, DON'T TAKE DECISIONS WHEN YOU ARE TOO MUCH EMOTIONAL

Logic and reasoning take holiday when you are in full emotion. Decisions taken when we are in the grip of Huge Emotions may prove wrong at a later time. Keep patience and arrive at decisions when you are in not under Emotions.

10. YOU ARE ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR DECISIONS

You should only seek advise from others and the final responsibility lies with you only in making the decisions. You should always be ready to accept full responsibility for all your decisions. Don't live on somebody's shoes for ever. I have seen people aged 30-40-50 who are still rigid with their very age old attitudes and beliefs without any Logic or Reason. As people gets aged they become too much Rigid in their attitudes. It should also be strongly borne in our mind that up to certain point of age and time it is absolutely essential to Trust our Elders Sayings and Advice. But, at some point of time you have to take charge of your Life and become responsible for your decisions and actions.

DARE TO THINK INDEPENDENTLY, BUT STILL TAKE THE ADVICE OF YOUR WELL WISHERS
