Beyond Duality
I am hesitant to commit this to the 'outer mind' of objects and rationalizations in the written word, but WisdomPoint works with integral heuristics and experimentation, so here we go...
Maybe the category "dualism" does not allow for the possibilities of 'unity in diversity', but instead imposes non-dualism? WisdomPoint works with the integral effect or function of 'reversible or cyclic causality'. We are not stuck in duality, but are working with the transcending function of polar opposites. The transcending creation. One and One equals One as an absolute state, but One and One equals Three as a relative development.
This is based on the humble recognition that non-duality can never be as long as there is a body and form. And if you commit suicide chances are you will NOT enter into samadhi or nirvana, but into your self made karma. Sure, we can speculate and formulate reductively what it is like to be without a body or a mind, but that is grasshopper spirituality. Our karmic footprint has prescribed the ONE in a body, with emotions and a mind to boot. Ramana Maharshi violently and decisively crashed through this boundary of the body to find 'I-I'. Atma vichara can provide glimpses of this state of samadhi, but never the whole state as long as there is some form or body left to deal with.
All the states I have seen described as "advaita" seem to be moments of silence and stillness, where we allow existence simply to be, without proactively projecting ourselves into it. That is not an ultimate goal, but a prerequisite for spiritual development. WisdomPoint calls that ESSENCING. We let things go. We let things be. We merge, we heal, and voila - we become one with what is, we relax, we actually breath freedom from all strive and struggle. Good. We need that to establish harmony, love and power in this world.
We are ready now for PRESENCING, for Creative Tension. We realize that transcendence of self and transformation of world primarily via THINKING, IMAGINATION, LOVE and WILL is the most powerful calling of humanity. It is normative, ethical, based on evaluation, and essentially virtuous. We should not leave it up to the Hitlers and Stalins to make a mess of it. It seems to me that the ones who know how to essence are called upon to presence in this world in their talents and capacities. We are not off this world, but we surely ARE in this world.
In summary: Healing ourselves in essencing is a good thing, because it empowers and grounds us for presencing. Presencing is a question of discipline, virtue, excellence, choices, goals, all in all a question of Creative Tension.
I prefer union and unity over oneness as long as I have a body. UNITY in DIVERSITY is the field of transcendant action for the embodied soul. ONENESS is the absolute totality of Divinity that we share as best as we can in our diversified life form with its myriad of integral life forms and capacities.
May what really IS be the springboard of Creative Tension on an individual and collective scale of humanity.
Oneness only can be realized coming from not-oneness and the very vehicle that allows that realization is the body. The body is a miracle way beyond our capacity to understand. From a scientific point of view we understand very little about it.
We mix up the body with the separate self because the separate self sees the body as a manifestation of the separate and relative. But the body is the direct manifestation of oneness in the relative. The unique part of yourself is not your mind, your story or whatever enlightenment you reached... all that is far more similar to others. In the midst of now 6 1/2 billion humans and even more other beings all around each of us is unique. That's oneness in manifestation: you are only once. But that uniqueness is silent and the very thing we perceive as full (the body, the form) is as close look empty and silent and carries unimaginable capabilities to manifest the absolute.
First it takes to go beyond the personal story into the utterly impersonal, radiant silence of our being in order to see the truth. Then the adventure is to manifest the non-dual and make it real. I call that:
.
The body is a manifestation of relative ONENESS. That is powerful. Unity in Diversity. The boundaries of the body are integral to the ABSOLUTE.
There is a lot to be understood about the sense of separation attached to the body via the psyche...
Nothing needs to be understood in order to be who You are. That is a story appearing in That. Oneness is not relative or absolute - it is beyond all concepts. Concepts have never touched That. Yet concepts are also That! There is nothing separate from That. There is nothing separate from That. Even ideas of separatedness are proof that nothing is separate! Obvious - is it not? No process, no relationship, no agenda, nothing linear - just This, RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW. Boo! Boo! Boo! I Know You (lol). You Know Me. We Know each other - because we are the same.
hmm.. i wonder why you think that 'having a body' would be an obstacle to full realisation? Do we become something after losing the body that we aren't now already?
Your body is not a principle, but it is a regiment of most concise limitations of the ABSOLUTE (the principle). If you would truly realize the ABSOLUTE, your body, including all the chakras, would blow all its fuses. The body is a great check point of bullshit when it comes to the so called realization of IT. Having a body is a definite Karmic Footprint. If we ever come in contact with this tremendous energy understood as the ABSOLUTE in so many names, death of the body and other aspects of our personality are immediate.
This is the MEANING of relativity and love: you only can realize a proportion of the ABSOLUTE as long as you have a body, and that proportion depends on your discipline and risk taking (insanity and terminal illness).
What makes you suppose that the body can co-exist with the ABSOLUTE unless it is in a RELATIVE and ORDERED way? How close can we be to the sun with a body?
Who or what you are is not dependent on ANYTHING. It makes no difference to who you REALLY are what state the body is in (whether it is insane ravished with disease, or anything else). No states of body or mind can exist independently of THAT and YOU ARE THAT. What you are is the only constant. You can also not 'proportion' the absolute because it is not a thing. It is beyond ALL concepts. EVERYTHING is the manifestation of THAT, RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW. In fact, the here and now is all there is. This is it! It's own appearance is the ONLY proof that THIS IS IT. No one realises this, it is simply obvious and known. No 'person' ever has or ever will realise the truth. What is 'realised' by no one is that the person is merely a mental projection onto the screen of Awareness. The sun and the body are not two.
Proportion or the 'Golden Mean' is exactly how the ABSOLUTE and the RELATIVE are ONE. How does your body function still if not as a proportionate energy of the TOTAL?
The effective organization of all of nature with its myriad of life forms in one unity should give us enough pause to consider the ABSOLUTE in its RELATIVE manifestation and transcendence,
can Enlightenment be put into words?
I've heard it described as simply peace of mind.
I've heard it said that It's always here it is your true nature, it's So simple.
Buddha, Jesus Christ have come and gone and as far as I can see the majority of the world is just about as far away from enlightened as you can get.
so unless somebody can come along to spark the interest of the average Joe and Jane on the street society as a whole is in big trouble. seems to me that society as a whole is going completely in the opposite direction of enlightenment.
